Just read Ronen’s post about the track BLKBerry 2.0 by rapper Swindoe. The track is actually really catchy but the best part is how he shouts out his own PIN. It reminds me of back when Mike Jones used to give out his real phone number (281-330-8004).

Adam over at CB got a tip about the upcoming Kindle app for BlackBerry. The app will give you access to Kindle books without the need to purchase a Kindle, and it will automatically sync your last page read and annotations between devices. It seems the app won’t have any support for newspapers, magazines or blogs, but you get the whole Kindle book library at your disposal.
Speaking of Kindle, has anyone tried the UnSwindle app? For those not familiar with UnSwindle, a developer named iHeartCabbages created an app that circumvents the Kindle DRM protections. The app was developed to help make books more accessible, in celebration of the Right to Read.
Register to be notified of the upcoming Kindle app for BlackBerry.

GigaOM and Mobclix have put together a nice chart showing the average cost of a paid application on each smartphone app store. We have talked a few times about how App World has the highest priced apps relative to the other smartphones, and to date, it still leads by over a compared to the next highest Windows Mobile. RIM should be much more active in helping developers drive these prices down. At the very least, App World needs a better promotional system similar to the BlackBerry Cool Store, so they can offer a Deal of the Day, BOGO campaigns and MobileHeist sales.

There’s only one day in the year when you can truly record a year-end show, and that’s December 31st. Craig, Adam, Bla1ze and myself jumped on the podcast line for nearly 90 minutes this morning to look back at the year that was 2009. We reflect on some of the highs and lows, work through all the new BlackBerry Smartphones that hit the market over the year with our take on each of them and start looking ahead to BlackBerry in 2010. We also announce the winners of the 2009 CrackBerry Awards live on the air! We’ll be posting these to the blogs soon, but if you want first dibs at hearing who won in every BlackBerry category you’ll want to tune in. Big thanks for making 2009 such a great year and we’ll be back on the air regularly in 2010! Happy New Year!!

2009 was a HUGE year for BB development. It started with BlackBerry App World, and has steadily snowballed from there. At DEVCON, RIM broke the news on several stunning new additions to the BB development world, highlights being Open GL, the 5.0 API library, and Widgets. With New Year’s fast approaching, addicts the world over are looking forward to 2010 as a banner year for development. I am totally pumped to see the offerings brought forward this year by the development community as a whole.
Are you excited at the possibilities? Interested in getting involved, or maybe know someone who is? Perhaps you’re already a developer, and you’ve been thinking about developing for BB? We would love to see what you can do! I would love to see our developer community grow, producing more and better apps for us to toy with.
To get you started, I’m going to compile the best of the links for developers from RIM, and finish off with some reference materials to give you a place to learn from. I’ll start with Java apps, then cover Widgets. More info after the jump.

December 31st is here, which means it’s time for some quality fluff posts! Lol. This one is actually quality without the fluff though, as we roundup the links to some of our most-viewed and favorite content of 2009. The 12 links immediately following were, according to our site analytics, the 12 most-viewed articles on CrackBerry.com in 2009. It’s not surprising to see the BlackBerry Tour review be in the #1 spot as it was the earliest review to hit in 2009 of the new hotly-anticipated devices. What’s a little more suprising to me though is #11 on the list. I actually did up the video for how to install a microsd card into your BlackBerry back in 2007!! I guess that’s still an in-demand help topic among new BlackBerry owners, though I better do up a new video asap as that one is wayyyyy out of date.
Further below you’ll also find some our editors’ favorites of 2009, as chosen by Bla1ze, Adam, Ryan and myself from articles we each wrote. With nearly 3,000 posts hitting the blogs this year, covering everything in the world of BlackBerry, we all pretty much ended up just picking the first articles that popped into our heads. Those must be the good ones though, right? Enjoy the show. Let us know in the comments what your favorite posts of 2009 were. I have a pretty good idea of where we did good and not so good on the blogs this year in terms of delivering the content you want. As we move into 2010 we’re going to turn down the suck, crank up the good stuff and work our hardest to boggle your mind every single day with the best content on the net for BlackBerry owners and enthusiasts. See ya in 2010!

SHAPE Services has released a new application for those of you who hate inputting information from business cards manually. Business Card Reader is a scanning utility that simply lets you scan a business card and by making use of ABBYY’s text recognition technology allows for the extracted information to be added directly to your address book filling in all the appropriate fields. Having tested it on some business cards I have, I found it to be quite accurate in its rendering and identifying of information. Could be quite useful if you deal with business cards quite frequently.
Business Card Reader is available now for .95 but SHAPE Services does offer up a 7 day trial for everyone to check out before making a final purchasing choice. Supported devices include BlackBerry Tour, Curve 8900, Storm, Storm 2, Bold 9700 as they all have a higher resolution camera with auto focus to capture the data. Business Card Reader also supports different languages such as English, French, Italian, German and finally, Spanish.
